- Individual Stableford
Today we played an individual stableford and we had
twenty-seven (27) players. In a “stableford” your handicap determines
the number of strokes (if any) that you get off your gross score on each
hole. In a stableford, a net bogey is one point, a net par is two
points, a net birdie is three points, a net eagle is four points and a
net double eagle is five points. If you play to your handicap, you
should have 36 points (even) at the end of the round.
The A flight consisted of players with handicaps of 17 or
less, while the B flight players had handicaps of 18 or higher.
Today’s results (gross, points over 36 and points towards
player of the month) are:
A flight
1st- Michael Hawkins (75, +8, 6 points)
2nd- Rob White (83, even, 4 points)
3rd- Sandi Wagner (85, even, 3 points)
4th- Dennis Fitzgerald (89, even, 2 points)
5th- Randy Scott (86, -2, 1 point)
B flight
1st- Tony Maggio (87, +5, 6 points)
2nd- Jim Goss (85, +5, 4 points)
3rd- Ed Dobler (87, +4, 3 points)
4th- Al Zakowski (93, +4, 2 points)
5th- Norman Sklar (88, +1, 1 point)
Ties were broken by points on the last nine (10-18), last
six (13-18), last three (16-18) and last hole (18). The top three
places in each flight will be paid.
Jeff McLaughlin won lunch at Brad’s Grille in Momentum
Mall for closest to the pin on #17. Today, we raffled 15 mil colones
from the third hole-in-one pool and Rob White had the winning ticket.
Next Cariari-CVGA event
Monday, March 15, is our next tournament at the Cariari
Country Club. The format will be a modified stableford. The cost per
player is $35, which is the same rate as 2009, and the entry fee is 6
mil. Carts and/or caddies are not included in that price. We have to
guarantee twelve non-Cariari players per tournament and tee times will
begin as early as 6:30 a.m. If you commit to playing and then do not
show up, we have to pay your green fee.
The hole in one pool will be available when we play a
Cariari-CVGA tournament. Club members will be invited to join us at our
regular 6 mil colones entry fee and they will be eligible for the hole
in one pool.
Next Texas Scramble
Tuesday, April 13, is the next Texas Scramble.
Hole in one pool
The hole in one pool is frozen at $2,500.00 USD. The next
person to have a “hole in one” wins that pool (multiple holes in one in
the same event will split the money). A hole in one must be on a par
three hole and witnessed by all those in the foursome. Also, the hole
in one pool is only available in our Valle Del Sol tournaments and
Cariari-CVGA events. Finally, a normal par four or par five hole that
has been temporarily change to a par three (due to any reason) does not
qualify for the hole in one pool.
The new hole in one pool is now frozen at $2,500.00 USD
and will be awarded for a hole in one after the first $2,500.00 has been
paid.
The
third hole in one pool is now $589.50 USD. Each week 15 mil colones
(about $28) of the third pool will be raffled until there is a hole in
one.
See you on the course,
David Maddox
