Two-Person Scramble
Today the CVGA played a two-person scramble at Valle del
Sol and we had thirty-six (36) players. Thirty percent of the combined
team handicap was used as a reduction from the gross score. Players
were able to choose their own partners but the higher handicapped player
was reduced in handicap to within twelve stokes of the better player.
The A flight (9 teams) had team handicaps of 10.8 or less and the B
flight (9 teams) had team handicaps at or above 11.1.
Today’s results (gross, net and points towards player of
the month and player of the year) are:
A flight
1st- Randy Lundy and Dan Chiverton (71, -10.3,
6 points)
2nd- Billy Fernandes and Eirig Rowlands (69,
-9.0, 4 points)
3rd- Reinhard Sievert and John Osorno (72,
-8.1, 3 points)
B flight
1st- Andre Tessier and Luis Loaiza (79, -9.2,
6 points)
2nd- Jim Goss and Larry Goldman (76, -7.1, 4
points)
3rd- Norman Sklar and Alex Gonzalez (78, -5.6,
3 points)
We had two raffle prizes today. John Leggio won a
voucher at Physiohealth and Mike Daughtry won a voucher at Esthetic
Dental Center.
The flag was not picked up so I don’t know who won lunch
at Brad’s Grille in Lindora for closest to the pin on #15. I will check
the green in the morning. Only first and second place in each flight
will be paid.
Los Delfines/Playa Tambor vacation February 9-11
February 9, 10 and 11 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
is the next CVGA golfing vacation. As of today, we have 37 golfers
going and 27 rooms reserved. If you want to go, contact me at 8392-8595
and make arrangements to get me the money before Thursday afternoon.
Friday, February 5, I am confirming all reservations and transferring
the money to Los Delfines and Barcelo.
While our hole in one pool is not available at Los
Delfines, Durman is sponsoring hole #7 and a hole in one wins a golf
cart.
Next week’s format
While many of us will be in Tambor, the CVGA will be
having its regular Tuesday tournament at Valle Del Sol. Harold will be
running the tournament and the format will be a modified stableford.
Play begins at 6:15 a.m. and the last group goes off no
later than 7:15 a.m.
Hole in one pool
The hole in one pool is frozen at $2,500.00 USD. The next
person to have a “hole in one” wins that pool (multiple holes in one in
the same event will split the money). A hole in one must be on a par
three hole and witnessed by all those in the foursome. Also, the hole
in one pool is only available in our Valle Del Sol tournaments and
Cariari-CVGA events. Finally, a normal par four or par five hole that
has been temporarily change to a par three (due to any reason) does not
qualify for the hole in one pool.
The new hole in one pool is now frozen at $2,500.00 USD
and will be awarded for a hole in one after the first $2,500.00 has been
paid.
The
third hole in one pool is now $356.50 USD. After all the leftover
raffle prizes from 2009 have been exhausted we may start raffling off
excess pool cash in our weekly tournaments.
See you on the course,
David Maddox
