Jun 30, 2009 - Stroke Play

Today, thirty-eight (38) players joined us in a Stroke Play event. In all events we have an A and B flight.  However, this year in stroke play tournaments we added a C flight to give our newer and/or higher handicapped players a chance to place. Today’s flights are 0-12, 13-22, and 23 or higher.  Lift, clean and place was in effect due to muddy conditions.

Today’s results (net and points towards Player of the Month and Player of the Year) are:

2nd- Ching Tseng (71, 4 points)

3rd- Mike Daughtry (72, 3 points)

Survey on Texas Scramble now on-line

Yesterday I sent out the web address for our survey on Texas Scrambles.  I just checked the results and 34 people have submitted their preferences.  If you have not participated please go to http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/151676/texas-scramble and be sure to click “submit your survey” when you are finished.  Please do this only once.  This is only a survey to give us some guidance.  You are not voting for American Idol and there are ways to detect multiple I.P. address participation.

 Player of the Month

Alex Gonzalez is the player of the month for June 2009.  Alex had 13 points, followed by Randy Scott, Bill Hornick and Verena Croci with 10 points.  The player of the month receives a free round of golf, courtesy of Valle del Sol.  Congratulations Alex.

Next week’s format

Tuesday, July 7, we are playing a two-person scramble.  You can pick your own partner but the twelve-stroke rule is in place.  The tournament will be flighted and 30% of the team handicap will be used as a reduction.  The first group goes off at 6:15 a.m. and the last will tee off no later than 7:20 a.m.

 Cariari-CVGA July 6

Our next Cariari event will be Monday, July 6 at 6:30 a.m.  The cost is $35 per player and the hole in one pool (currently $2,500) is available for a hole in one on any par three holes. I need to know if you are going to be attending so I can provide the Cariari security desk a list of players.

If you commit to playing and do not show up I still have to pay your green fee.   Please let me know if you are going to play.

 July Derby Horse Race

The next Derby Horse Race is scheduled for Thursday, July 16.  The cost is $49 plus 5 mil entry fee.

Next Texas Scramble

The next Texas Scramble has been moved up one week.  It was originally scheduled for July 28, but the new date is July 21.

 Guanacaste Classic

The Guanacaste Classic is July 25 and 26 (Saturday and Sunday) at Hacienda Pinilla and Reserva Conchal.  The cost is $250, it’s a really nice tournament, and the field is limited and by invitation only.  If you are interested in playing contact me soon.

 Next Los Delfines/Playa Tambor trip

Our next golfing vacation is August 18, 19 and 20 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).  We have twenty-five rooms reserved and the cost per player (double occupancy) remains at $190.00.  That price includes three days golf with cart, two nights at the Barcelo Tambor and all food and drinks.

While our hole in one pool is not available in Los Delfines events, Ulrich Lang, the director of golf, is working to have a Club Car cart available for a hole in one in our Wednesday tournament.

 Hole in one pool

The hole in one pool is frozen at $2,500.00 USD. The next person to have a “hole in one” wins that pool (multiple holes in one in the same event will split the money).  A hole in one must be on a par three hole and witnessed by all those in the foursome.  Also, the hole in one pool is only available in our Valle Del Sol tournaments and Cariari-CVGA events.

The new hole in one pool is now $1,420.50 and will be awarded to a hole in one after the $2,500.00 has been paid.

See you on the course,

David Maddox
