Individual Stableford
Today we played an
individual stableford and we had forty (40) players. In a “stableford”
your handicap determines the number of strokes (if any) that you get off
your gross score on each hole. In a stableford, a net bogey is one
point, a net par is two points, a net birdie is three points, a net
eagle is four points and a net double eagle is five points. If you play
to your handicap, you should have 36 points at the end of the round.
The A flight
consisted of players with handicaps of 18 and less, while the B flight
players had handicaps of 19 or higher. Because of recent heavy rain we
allowed lift, clean and place anywhere on the course (except hazards).
Normally, the lift, clean and place rule improves average scores and
today was no exception.
Today’s results
(gross, points over 36 and points towards player of the month and player
of the year) are:
A Flight
1st-
Bill Hornick (74, +11, 6 points) his best score ever
2nd-
Randy Scott (78, +7, 4 points)
3rd- Jeff
McLaughlin (81, +6, 3 points)
4th- Rob
White (76, +4, 2 points)
5th- Mike
Daughtry (79, +4, 1 point)
B Flight
1st-
Bernhard Croci (84, +7, 6 points)
2nd- Skip
Duranczyk (87, +6, 4 points)
3rd- Ryan
Donahue (92 +6, 3 points)
4th-
Alonso Santa (89, +2, 2 points)
5th-
Myles Cunningham (93, even, 1 point)
As per USGA rules,
ties are broken by last nine, last six, last three and last hole (#18).
Verena Croci won
lunch at Brad’s Grille in Lindora for closest to the pin on #15.
Next
week’s format
Tuesday, June 30,
we are playing stroke play using 100% of your handicap. Play will begin
at 6:15 a.m. and the last group will go off no later than 7:20 a.m.
Obviously, some players will be playing to new handicaps.
Copa
Valle del Sol this weekend

Cariari-CVGA

Our next Cariari
event will be Monday, July 6 at 6:30 a.m. The cost is $35 per player
and the hole in one pool (currently $2,500) is available for a hole in
one on any par three.
July
Derby Horse Race
The next Derby
Horse Race is scheduled for Thursday, July 16. The cost is $49 plus 5
mil entry fee.
Next
Texas Scramble
The next Texas
Scramble has been moved up one week. It was originally scheduled for
July 28, but the new date is July 21.
Guanacaste
Classic
The Guanacaste
Classic is July 25 and 26 (Saturday and Sunday) at Hacienda Pinilla and
Reserva Conchal. The cost is $250 and it is a really nice tournament.
I had planned to play it but my son is getting R&R from Iraq and I will
be in Texas during that time.
Next Los Delfines/Playa
Tambor trip
Our next golf
vacation is August 18, 19 and 20 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). We
have twenty-five rooms reserved and the cost per player (double
occupancy) remains $190.00. That includes three days golf with cart,
two nights at the Barcelo Tambor and all food and drinks.
Player of the
month standings
Alex Gonzalez is
leading with 12 points, followed by Randy Scott and Bill Hornick with 10
points. Ryan Donahue has 9 points and Skip Duranczyk and Alonso Santa
have 8 points. Mike Wallace, Lynne Ferguson, Greg Hurd and Bernhard
Croci have 6 each. Ties are broken by points earned in individual
events.
Hole
in one pool
The hole in one
pool is frozen at $2,500.00 USD. The next person to have a “hole in one”
wins that pool (multiple holes in one in the same event will split the
money). A hole in one must be on a par three hole and witnessed by all
those in the foursome. Also, the hole in one pool is only available in
our Valle Del Sol tournaments and Cariari-CVGA events.
The new hole in one
pool is now $1,372.50 and will be awarded for a hole in one after the
$2,500.00 has been won.
See you on the course,
David Maddox
