Results

March 11, March 18 and March 25, 2008

Thanks to Mike Daughtry and Calix for taking care of our club while I was in Texas for another operation on my hand.  Since I am back to typing one-handed for a while, I have condensed the results (leaving out gross scores, tie-breaker information, stableford points, and points for Player of the Month and Player of the Year).  However, in my excel file, each players’ points were recorded for each week’s play.  Remember, in individual formats, winners in each flight receive the following points toward POTM and POTY:  1st- 6 pts, 2nd- 4 pts, 3rd- 3 pts, 4th- 2 pts and 5th- 1 pt.

Here are the results of the three tournaments I missed.

La Iguana Invitational this Saturday (special for CVGA players)

Saturday, March 29, is the 7th Annual La Iguana Invitational at the Los Suenos Marriott. The cost is $175.00 per person and the format is a three-person scramble.  There will be a shotgun start at 11 a.m. and lunch and drinks will be served on the course.  The top ten teams will compete in a night tournament and then there will be dinner and fireworks for all players.  Each player will receive an adidas golf shirt, hat, golf balls and an iguana head cover.

Here is the special.  Call Jose Quesada at 8630-9012 to sign up and Jose will also give you a free future round of golf at Los Suenos.

 Hole in one pool

The hole in one pool is frozen at $2,500.00 and the next person to have a “hole in one” wins that pool (multiple holes in one in the same event will split the money).

Player of the Month March 2008

Agustin Odio is the POTM for March 2008.  He had twelve points, followed by Charlie Graves, Will Castro and Norman Mena (each with ten points).  The player of the month receives a free round of golf, compliments of Valle Del Sol.  Congratulations, Agustin.

Tuesday, April 1, is the Texas Scramble

Tuesday, April 1, 2008, is our third Texas Scramble (formerly known as the bar tournament) of 2008.  This will be a three-person scramble, requiring FIVE drives per player.  There will be a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m., but you must be there before 7 a.m.  After the tournament we will meet at Rock & Roll Pollo in Santa Ana and there will be an “all you can eat” buffet with chicken, ribs and sausage (at your expense).

The cost per person is 22 mil (9 mil if you are a paid monthly member of VDS) and includes green fees, drinks on the course, four long drive holes (and one for the ladies), four closest to the pin holes, and the hole in one pool.  Carts and caddies are not included.

Two three-person teams will tee off on each hole and scorecards will be exchanged.  It will be up to the opposing teams to insure that all of the rules, drops and number of drives per person are met, and that the gross scores are properly recorded.  Also, please remember that we do not like slow play.  Check your yardage on the way to your ball and do not get more than one hole behind.

If you are not on an established team, please come anyway.  We are going to have a lot of extra players, looking to form teams.  If you are at the course before 7 a.m., you will be able to play.  If we have an odd number of players, we will have one two-person or one four-person team.

See you on the course,

David Maddox
